What Happens When One of Your Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirrors Stops Working?

Auto-dimming rearview mirrors consist of many parts. When one of the components fails to function, the mirror will cease to work correctly. If you notice that just one of your mirrors does not auto-dim while you are driving at night, then the issue is isolated to that mirror and not a system-wide problem.

Light sensors are attached to the back of these mirrors. If dust or another foreign substance blocks one of the sensors, the mirror will not dim properly. Reach behind the mirror with a soft cloth and clean the sensors. Then, shine a flashlight on the rear of the mirror, if the mirror dims, then that is likely your problem.

For other issues, bring your vehicle to KIA Downtown Los Angeles to have the mirror checked for electrical or other problems. There are vital connections that can cause the problem.
